Prevention, environmental protection, remediation and enhancement : our challenges for a better living world.

Environmental remediation deals with the removal of pollution or contaminants from environmental media such as soil, groundwater, sediment, or surface water for the general protection of human health and the environment or from a brownfield site intended for redevelopment. Remediation is generally subject to an array of regulatory requirements, and also can be based on assessments of human health and ecological risks where no legislated standards exist or where standards are advisory.

Caring for the environment requires practical solutions and this is where DEME engineers and staff come in. Remediation of contaminated soil, construction or rehabilitation of landfills for domestic or industrial waste, recycling of sludge and decontamination and lagunation of silt, major clean-up operations of brownfields - this is our field of expertise.

In less than 15 years the DEME Group has created a strong environmental service infrastructure, with the capacity to innovate and apply novel techniques for environmental remediation.
Today, DEME environmental companies are active in many European countries and increasingly are spreading their “green” wings to other continents. They are rightfully considered to be pioneers and trend setters in Europe.

Taken together, these companies generated an environmental turnover exceeding € 120 million in 2006 – so accounting for some 13 % of DEME’s overall business volume.
