1.700 m2 zonnepanelen bij DEME

ZWIJNDRECHT ( 23 februari 2010) – Met ingang van  januari 2010 heeft de Antwerpse waterbouw- en milieugroep DEME een dakpark photovoltaïsche installatie van 1.134 panelen in gebruik genomen. Samen nemen deze panelen een oppervlakte van 1700 m2 in beslag.

 Het gaat om een investering van meer dan 885.000 euro. Het solarpark werd geplaatst op het magazijn- en ateliergebouw van DEME, naast het hoofdgebouw in Zwijndrecht. Het project is ontwikkeld, gefinancierd en gerealiseerd door groene stroomproducent Electrawinds, die gedurende twintig jaar verantwoordelijk blijft voor het onderhoud en de exploitatie.

DEME, in joint venture with Laing O’Rourke, to construct London Gateway Port. A new container terminal for DP World.

On the 8th of January an important breakthrough has been recorded on the “London Gateway Port” project as Port operator DP World commits itself to the foundation stage of its London Gateway project despite the market downturn. Whilst the joint venture Laing O’Rourke Infrastructure Limited – Dredging International NV (DEME Group) won the contract for the execution of this major new  port development project on the river Thames in the United Kingdom already back in 2008, the future of the project has been ever since under review. DP World’s decision to proceed with the construction of essential infrastructure for the planned port and logistics park opens the road to the actual start of the dredging works shortly.

Doop van hefeiland Goliath brengt GeoSea in pole position voor bouw windturbineparken op zee

ANTWERPEN (6 augustus 2009) – Met de doop van het hefeiland Goliath krijgt het DEME-bedrijf GeoSea een uniek werkinstrument in handen om een leidende positie in te nemen bij de bouw van windturbineparken in diep water, op grote afstand van de kust. De Goliath is het grootste werkeiland in zijn soort, en werd donderdagnamiddag in Antwerpen gedoopt door Mw. Maria Van den Bossche, de echtgenote van de h. Etienne Schouppe, staatssecretaris voor Mobiliteit met speciale bevoegdheid voor de Noordzee. Over twee weken vertrekt de Goliath naar het offshore windturbinepark van Alpha Ventus, nabij het Duitse eiland Borkum.

Name-giving jumbo jack-up platform Goliath sets GeoSea into pole position for the construction of offshore wind farms

ANTWERP (6 August 2009) – The Name-giving of the jumbo jack-up platform Goliath offers DEME operation company GeoSea a unique tool to grab a leading position in the construction of wind farms in far-shore deep waters. The Goliath is the largest jack-up platform of its type ever built. It was christened by Mrs. Maria Van den Bossche, spouse of Mr. Etienne Schouppe, State Secretary for mobility with responsibility for the North Sea, in Antwerp on Thursday 6th August in the afternoon. Within two weeks Goliath will leave Antwerp for its first offshore wind farm construction assignment – the Alpha Ventus project – off the German island Borkum.

DEME launches jumbo jack-up platform Goliath

Spectacular lifting operation along Scheldt quay in Antwerp

ANTWERP (7th July 2009) – On Wednesday 8th July the jumbo jack-up platform Goliath will be launched at quay 600 in Antwerp, Belgium. Goliath is the biggest jack-up of its kind, and will be lifted as a whole and lowered in the Scheldt river. She is the property of the Belgian ‘Dredging, Environmental and Marine Engineering’ (DEME) group, which will operate the platform through its fully owned daughter company GeoSea. Primarily, Goliath will be assigned for the installation of wind turbines at sea, for soil investigation at sea at big depths, and for driving and drilling bridge foundations.
