General Information

Disneyland is being built on a site a Penny’s Bay on North-Lantau Island, to the West of Kowloon.

An enormous soil replacement had to be executed to prepare the amusement park area.

 

Description of the works

At one moment not less than thirteen hoppers were involved.

The works were planned in an extremely tight schedule. In all no less than 28 separate construction phases had to be closely planned, executed and co-ordinated.

Construction work was already being carried out at a time when dredging, sandfill and overburden were still ongoing.

In addition, very strict environmental constraints apply with environmental measures, which generally dictated the pace of the dredging works on this project.

Scope of Works :

The works involved 62 million m3 mud dredging and 80 million m3 reclamation
